How to Eat a Pomegranate (Mess Free!)

I tweeted my handful of pom from yesterday :D
Who knew it was so easy to eat pomegranate!

I offered Sam (our house guest ^_^) half a pomegranate last night and he goes to me..you don't know how to remove the seeds? I can't believe you're eating it that way (picking them out of the pomegranate one by one).

I go..are you supposed to hit it with a spoon to get the seeds out?
He's like OMGGGGG, the trick is to use a bowl of water. :::we put Smallville on pause:::
and search it on youtube. Minh and I had no idea lol.

When I get back, I can go buy that case of 6 pomegranates from Costco!!! :)
If you don't already know..why not learn :D I love youtube!

  1. I watched that pomegranate video last night before heading to bed. half an hour later there was a REALLY bad thunderstorm. the noise was like an explosion! all i could think about was a giant pomegranate that exploded and all the seeds (aka the rain) was crashing onto my window. haha my dog was running around scared and cuddled between my boyfriend and i for protection

  2. haha! i probably would've eaten it the same way you were!!!

  5. OMG! I feel pretty foolish now. Since thats exactly how I would eat a pomegranate. (Picking the seeds out one by one.) Ha ha I'm glad I know now. I will have to go buy some now. :)

And I saw one of your recent posts on twitter you shared a link to a coat and I LOVED it! :) I just got a double breasted one today. But I tend to stay away from any other color besides black. I hope you find one you like!

  15. Such a great idea but there's a lot of steps just to get to the juicy seeds! But, it is the easiest and most mess-free one I've seen. gonna go get some now. I've been avoiding getting them just because it was so messy. I have the marks on my labcoat to prove how messy it was. ;)

  20. Omg I never knew that trick with poms!!! I always did it the same way you did... pick them out ONE BY ONE. It's tedious!! :p Which is why I hardly buy them! But now I will get them since they seem to be in season when it's cold.. haha =) I love pomegranates a lot, but the hassle (and mess) of opening them was too much :p I will have to try it now!! hehe I doubt I can juggle like that guy though!

YAY for the Nordstrom groupon!! I have it too!! Those Tory flats you got is realllllllly cute! I just love leathery shoes! :) The design is so sleek!! Your sister should love it :D haha

Have a fun Thanksgiving with your fam Steph! :) I wish i could be in Boston! I went there once but not long enough. It was super awesome :)

LOL or how to open a wine bottle with your SHOE without the cork going all crazy.

i read in the comments that there is even an easier way to take the seeds out?!?!?! i tried looking but if you find out, let us know! i've always wanted to eat a pomegranate <3 <3 i'm sort of excited now.. :)

  25. I have a pom tree in my backyard. I picked them and gave it away to one of my close friend who loves pom, saying its really healthy. She ate them and says its super sweet. So the next day I gave one Pom a chance. OMG, it's so freaken sour!!!! It's either my friend's POM is sweet or I'm just sensitive to sour.

I gave her about twenty baseball size Poms. I should have charged her for it. =) Did your friend Sam learn to eat a Pom from youtube too?

  26. It's so weird that you recently posted this post about pomegranate seeds because I just watched an episode of Good Eats on Food Network and Alton Brown was teaching how to remove the seeds without the mess. It really is so simple and interesting. I don't care for the taste of pomegranates, but at least now you know how to get the seeds out!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I LOVEEEE that you posted this.

My mom buys pomegranate all the time, and I usually have her break it and take out all the seeds for me, and she uses the tapping a spoon against trick as well.

I'm going to have to show this one to her. Thanks for sharing (:
