Finished!

I finished Skinny Bitch tonight, and I have to say...I don't want to eat meat. lol
It's equivalent to watching a Peta video on youtube!

Overall, I learned that we consume a lot of foods that we don't fully understand. haha
I come to realize that I never think of where my meat comes from...or how animals are raised for the sole purpose of being eaten. It's sad to think about these poor animals getting slaughtered. They talked about how most animals sense fear when they know another of their kind is being harmed, or ..murdered. They get scared just like we do. It's makes me want to cry reading the meat chapter. =/

I don't want to get too much into it...but did you know that eating fast makes you fart more?! haha cause you swallow a lot air when you eat fast. (or so they say).

But yeah...

My most memorable fact I learned is that fruit is the best breakfast food. Fruit should be eaten alone, and given 10 minutes to digest before eating something else (such as another piece of fruit). Did you know that? They say that way, you benefit the most from the fruit.

Anyhow, I've been craving fresh squeezed orange juice. (I feel a cold coming on) :/
Jamba Juice is so conveniently located a few miles from my house :) Growing up in Michigan..the closest Jamba Juice was in Chicago, Illinois! Can you believe that?

I don't mind paying $3-$4 for 12oz of fresh orange juice. : ) It sure is a lot cheaper than buying my own oranges and struggling to juice them! Sticky mess, no no!

So yeah...I bought myself a bag of organic apples from Safeway tonight. LOL, Minh got home around 8pm and we decided to go grocery shopping for food. :)

$3.99 for a bag of 8 organic apples.. not too bad.

For some reason, I feel like I read something negative about eating organic fruits. sighh

This world is full of controversy! But I know that I'm going to eat more veggies and fruits, and cut back on red meat!

Good night :)

  2. Thank's love!. By reading your review I think I'll just sit at border's and read it instead of buying it. How's the skinny itch bay in the kitch? Is it just full of receipe's?.

  3. I heard when you suffocate an animal or torture it before you actually kill it, the meat has a nice texture or something like that. I learned it from watching Chinese movies! It is sad. My mom is a true vegetarian and she practically make me become a vegetarian at home. lol. 3.99 for a bag of organic apples is not bad at all.

  6. I suppose the equivalent to Jamba... in Australia would be Boost Juice haahahah... It's like a huge franchise doing fruit juices, smoothies, wheatgrass shots and all that good stuff hahahahah... I will definitely get my hands on a copy of that novel :) I'm sure it's an interesting read from what I've read on your post...I'm intrigued now...
Have a great new year dear :)

  7. When I worked out with a personal trainer for tennis, he informed me that getting protein in the morning is the best thing to do for your body (and mind, your mind needs protein to function).

Fruit is a good source of vitamins like C, but it also has a lot of natural sugars that will leave the body drained shortly.

Something with a lot of protein (fish, egg whites, some whole grain cereals ((I eat Kashi Go Lean)), tofu, beans etc.) are the best things to eat in the morning for your body.

Not saying that fruit is BAD or anything! It's still good. If you are going to do a fruit juice though, drink small glasses because 1 normal sized glass of orange juice is equivalent to eating 6 oranges!!!

Sorry Steph, this is long. These are just things I know from my mother (a crazy chef woman), my MSU nutrition classes, and my trainer. SO I THINKKKK it might be worth considering as well.

P.S. Remember when I was vegan for 6 months? It's because of things like that book. HAHA

    <3 you

  8. thanks for stopping by my blog! i felt like i had a celebrity visitor!! :)
i definitely got a lot of great things out of skinny bitch- even if you don't give up meat forever, you will be more thoughtful about what you do buy and where you get it from! the hardest part for me is keeping the house stocked with good & food and planning my meals!
thanks again for popping over to my blog! :)

  15. That book seems like a good read, I saw an episode of the Tyra Banks show with the women who wrote the book. :) Awww the meat info is very sad, I eat chicken only and seafood. I would like to become completely vegetarian but it is soo hard because I love blackened chicken in salads. Also, it would be soo hard on Justin and cooking to accommodate us both. I hope you are having a great evening! Happy happy holidays and happy new year! :)
