2010 Dior Holiday Collection Brush Set

I wanted to share some of my photos of the 2010 Dior Holiday Brush Set.
I picked up this set from Macy's while I was visiting Boston.
It was 1 of the 2 items I bought for myself while I was there.
(The other was a North Face hat because it was so chilly!)

They do have last year's brush set available at select Costco's.
They're about $20 less at Costco but you do not get the red brush case (which I love!)

The quality is really amazing. This is my first brush set by Dior.
I learned about this set through RAEview's blog review on this same set : )
Thanks Rachel! It really is worth the investment.

I think it's really funny how the "title" of the brush is printed on the handle.
"Foundation" "Blush" "Lip" lol
I think that's the only "tacky" part of the Dior brushes. Overall, I really like them. I have yet to splurge on a full size (apart from the Dior Kabuki I bought from a blog sale).

:D

Thanks for visiting and looking at my photos!
I hope you find it helpful if this was something you were looking to buy this holiday season.

By the way, who's contact their local animal shelter to find out what type of food they feed the dogs, and cats? ^_^ Please do!

p.s. 5 more days until Minh and I gift an LV bag to one of our readers :D

  1. OMG! I picked a set for myself as well a couple of weeks ago as well! Same good taste. ;)Have you used yours yet? Got to washing them and the bristles started to fall off right away! :( They were not exactly what I thought they'd be especially for the price I paid. I ended up using my cheapy brand that hasn't fallen apart at all and I've had them for over a year. Tell me how they are for you. I'm hoping mine was just from a bad batch cuz I fell in love with how soft the brushes were and the beautiful case.

  2. @Angie I haven't washed them yet. I'll let you know if they loose any hairs after I do. That's a bummer to hear that they went bad after a wash!

  3. The brush case is sooo pretty. Red is such a great colour. The blush brush looks so soft! haha You're right about its tackiness though - whoever buys this set would obviously have "makeup brush knowledge" already (if not, it's still pretty obvious)..why should there be a need to print its use on the handles?!

I haven't contacted the pet store yet, but I plan on making a visit either tomorrow or Thursday. : ) Thanks for the reminder! :D What are you treating your doggies to this Christmas? ^_^

  7. I'm seeing this set float around the blogger world a lot lately!! I really love the red case too!! and the handles look so sleek, except for the 'title'. I think most makeup addicts would already know what the brushes are for.

  8. What an awesome set! I really like the red case, too. Too bad I have too many MAC brushes...with brushes, I don't stray brands!

  9. Ouu flashy and convient when traveling to places. :) Do a review on them if its doing you justice on the long run. I like the red casing that came with it.

  10. I really like the red case that the brushes come in. I really don't like the brush type printed on the handle, but set still looks nice.

  11. How sturdy are those, in terms of the shedding? I think for beginners the labeling of the brushes are useful, but I mean with higher end brushes it is a bit tacky. Though, I think the labels should be engraved in the metal not painted. Haha..and I like heavy things. Not practical, but weight on things makes it feel more..mmm..lux?

Time goes by super duper fast! I seriously felt this give away thing was barely last month. Well, time goes by fast when your stalking people.

  12. Wow those brushes look amazing and the red case even better.

  13. Ah- I like the little Dior words on the brushes!! & I actually love the "titles" for like "blush" and "foundation", etc. haha
I could definitely see why you think it is tacky. I love the items that have what they are on it--idk it is like a weird thing I like haha
like "umbrella" on an umbrella or like "laundry" on a laundry basket. The writing on these brushes is ok-- I am sure it will rub off and then it won't be tacky anymore haha

But the red bag is absolutely beautiful! These would be great with the case to travel with also I think--such a good find!!

p.s. I love how you bought a northface in Mass because it was cold haha I would have odne the same thing!! hahaha

  14. ooh, those look nice !
    are they soft ?

  15. Dior has such a dramatic look to it, haha, I notices that when you posted the Luther sparkly stuff. >.< can't remember the name!! But it's very pretty.
I am so excited to see who wins the give away!!! Ahhhhh, *crosses fingers and wears 4leaf clover necklace* haha, I actually hve one to, that's sad.
But good luck on pickin the winner~

  16. lol i've been coveting that brush set ever since i saw it on Raeview's blog! the pouch is so lovely. i really love the little details! like the sewn in pattern, the engraved Dior on the zipper head, right down to the little individual brush head protector things. lol

definitely worth the value. i got a dior foundation brush as a gift several years ago and its still going strong! and still incredibly soft

i like how it also matches your LV key pouch. we all know you're going to get a red purse in the future (gucci?!) lol and it could match it ;)

  17. Cute set. I like the idea of them having the names on them, it could be a cute starter kit for someone.

  18. Ahh I totally love the way door products look and feel. It's so luxurious. I still can't bring myself to spend that much on it though. I splurge, but not as crazy. Lol. Love your new brush set though :)

  20. Every time I see Dior brushes, I want to drool..From the packaging to the incredible quality of the bristles, they're amazing! But I can't believe how expensive they are, even compared to mac. :(

    ReplyDelete
  21. very nice set, i especially love the packaging

  22. i was surprised when you said that costco sell those dior brushes! costco selling makeup stuff? that's first time i have heard about it haha red case looks sexy ;)

  23. I'm curious to see how long they last.

Woohoo can't wait to see who wins a LV bag :P

  25. i'm going to the shelter tomorrow to donate things! they close so early here :(.
have you ever heard of crown brushes? i heard really good things about it. it's a set of 15 brushes in a faux alligator skin clutch for only $30 if you use a promo code. if you go to kandee johnson's blog, you can read all about it.
ahh 5 more days until christmas!

  26. This set of brushes is very good. Everyone speaks highly of the quality of the brushes Dior, and best of all, you can carry in your bag for touch-ups. And the color is very nice, not as serious last year, but I love it.

  27. that CD set is so prettttttttttttty! It makes you go "ahhhhhhh." It looks so fancy. Can you recommend a smudge proof eyeliner. I like the cream liners but I'm open. I'm too much of a klutz and intimated to use the liquid eyeliners I haven't tried yet. I'm afraid my line will be all crooked. hehee

  28. Does your bf's law firm have a company holiday party? What are you going to wear? Mine's in January. I'm hoping to get some after xmas sales on dresses.

  29. im soooo over dior brushes, not only do the handles scuff up so much but they dent so easily and some of the brushes uber shed... i mean from an aesthetic stand point they look luxurious but long lasting they are not... i bought the holidays et last year the only diff was it came in a black case rather than red... great review though muahs xoxo

  30. The Dior brush set looks amazing, especially the red patent leather case :D. I'm always scared to buy travel brush set because i feel like they don't have the same quality as the full size brushes. The only brush sets i have are from MAC, Bobbi Brown and Sigma. I'm very disappointed with the MAC and BB travel brush sets. MAC is super scratchy and BB is just not doing the job. Sigma by far is my favorite brush set that i've owned.

Have you tried Sigma brushes before? What are your thoughts on them?

  31. great brushes!!!! I need a travel set, because I just realized that I am going out of town and do not have a brush roll, or a small set that I can bring with me.

I am unsure of what the animal shelters feed the animals, I think it differs from each shelter.

  32. I really love the brushes's case. It's super cute :)
Rarely see the silver brush's handle like that. Thanks for sharing!

  33. Oh my! I've been away for a while, and boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do. Bloggers are SO active, but then again, that's what I love about them, haha!

I LOVE Dior - everything I've ever tried and bought from them has worked. I've heard that their brushes are good, and I'm thinking of getting this set as a (Christmas? New Years? early birthday? so many options!:D) gift.

Is the quality of the small versions as good as the full-size ones? I've heard people say that, for example, MAC brush sets are not as high quality as their normal sized ones.

  34. Oooh, I really like the case that it comes with! :) The bright red is so pretty... reminds me of cranberries :D I hope you like the set! I haven't splurged on any Dior brushes before but I imagine they are spectacular brushes!! The name part of the brushes is kinda tacky, I agree. Who wouldn't know the difference between a lip and eye brush? hehe :p

  35. I wish I had a Costco near me! They always have great finds!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I saw the Dior pictures first before I started reading - and though to myself- where have I see those before? Yes, it was on another of your postings about Boston where u mentioned u got them.

I called my local shelter. They just needed really general stuff there so I took 2 bags of Science Diet there already! Encouraging us to do this for Christmas was such a greeeat idea!

  37. The brush case is so pretty !! ^__^ I love rachels reviews too.. They are always so informative..

Haha yeah the names are pretty tacky.. My elf brushes say those .. Lol

But they are still very pretty nonetheless

  38. great travel kit size brush set! its cute they have them labeled LOL just in case you forget which one is used for which hahaha. are the brushes pretty soft? i've had some set of brushes that are just a tab bit soft but still is hard. didn't like them that much so i ended up never using them anymore since i got it as a gift.

  39. One thing that I love during the holiday season is the massive amounts of travel size brush sets. I think I love my travel size brushes more than my full size brushes. Plus, they are always at a good price. You reminded me I have to check some out at sephora.com! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. wowowowwwww you have expensive taste XD

well I do but im kind of a cheapskate so I always try to buy the cheaper "dupes" of things etc LOL

    ReplyDelete
  41. the red case is soooo purtyyy!
wow i didn't expect them to print it on the brushes like that, i thought it'd be at least etched. do they do that for full sizes too?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Loving that brush kit! About to go to Costco's to see if they have any brush kits or anything makeup related! ^.^

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agree, I don't like names printed on the brushes. But I looove that red case.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I like the case more then the brushes, nice color
